"He is more myself than I. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same." - Emily Bronte
Alix and Christophe's wedding was so many things.
It was the unity of two halves of a soul.
It was love that needed to be shared.
It was a privilege to be a part of.
I consider their wedding my first. It wasn't the first wedding I've ever photographed, in fact it's about the 5th or so. Alix and Christophe found me through a classmate of Alix's who I had done engagement photos for. After seeing those images, they decided that they wanted me to shoot their wedding. When Alix contacted me and told me that her and her fiance loved my work and wanted me to be their wedding photographer I was almost in disbelief. This is one of the moments you wait for as a photographer, when someone who you've never met sees your work and connects with it. This is the reason I consider their wedding my first. I had no idea who they were, and vice versa. They chose me strictly based on my images, and I was over the moon about it. Of course I said yes and we immediately began to plan a time to meet up for coffee. After talking to Alix and Christophe in person it became only more clear that this was going to be a perfect fit. They told me all of their plans and visions for the day and I did nothing but agree. We discussed locations, times of day, style of images, and the list goes on. After one final meet up to location scout the ceremony venue, the big day finally arrived. July 4th, 2015. It went perfectly. That doesn't necessarily mean there weren't any bumps in the road. But it's those bumpy moments that make a wedding day perfect and unique. The love between Alix and Christophe is so obvious. We spent the afternoon in a forest, on a train track, in the River Valley, and downtown Edmonton. Alix and Christophe smiled and laughed all day while surrounded by their best friends. Their love, while obvious, is not loud and in your face. It's subtle and in the small things. I see it in how she looks at him. I hear it when he talks about her. It's in the way their hands always seem to find each other's. I was nothing short of completely inspired the entire time.
Alix and Christophe welcomed me into their wedding with open arms full of confidence and gratitude. I am so beyond thankful to them for believing and trusting in me. I know in my heart that their love will burn brighter each and every day.
